Noise++ is a blog about music written by Matty and Derek (that’s me).
I’m sure Matt has his own views on what this blog is to him and why he’s a part of it, but I’ll leave those for him to share. As far as I’m concerned, I am excited to be involved with N++ because I think music blogging in general has missed the point. Most of the the big music blogs out there are constantly jockeying for ‘it-blog’ position. Trying to scoop one another on the latest indie obscurity, or determine who hates which overhyped band more.
For me, music is about finding something that sounds good and enjoying it. I’m a self-professed independent music afficianado, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy mainstream music. It also doesn’t mean that I need 7 different middle-eastern instruments in a band before I think they’re fresh.
I’m hoping that this blog will get back to what I think music blogging should be about. Honest appraisals of new and old music, with plenty of non-pretentious discussion thrown in for good measure.
